Due to my physical limitations, I've decided to do most of my planting in containers this year since it's just so much easier.  I planted my herbs yesterday and had to share!  Pics below; the back pot has: Spearmint (it even came with a recipe for Mint Juleps!), Purple Sage & Sweet Basil.  The front pot has my beloved Lavender and one of my new favorite plants, another Calibrachoa.  This one said it's orange, but the blooms look as pink as they can be to me!  I'm so happy with it, and so glad I found these flowers!  That one's not an herb of course, just for fun and some color. =)

OH!  BTW, anyone who would like my link to join Superpoints with a 25 point bonus, please let me know and I'll give you the link!

Onto the herbs...

  1. Very nice! I had grand plans to do a container garden this year with herbs, but I have come to realize that plants come to my house to die, sadly. Good luck!

  3. Wishing you the best of luck with pots. I planted some outside a week ago and well.... I should post photos. Not doing so well to say the least. I think I am going to keep my pot of herbs in the house!

  4. LOVE gardening myself. Your containers look GREAT. I've had so much rain here that I've had to move some of my to a SMALL plot I have dug up in the back. It'll be fun to see how all our pots do throughout the growing season. I'm so happy to have found you via VoiceBoks.

  5. Love your little garden... I too had to plant my herb this year in containers... however because it is extremely hot where I live I keep them in my kitchen... so nice to have them at arm's length while I'm cooking :)

  6. I'm super time-crunched, and for some reason container gardening sounds way more manageable than the whole "big garden in the back yard" thing! I'm gearing up to planting a few tomato plants in pots this year just to see how they do. Wish me luck!

  7. Love your container garden! I planted my hebs in containers this year too because the my garden is full of other things, and I wanted to plant more herbs this year over last year. Our weather has been rather crummy, so I am hoping that things start to grow like crazy soon! Good luck with your garden :-)

  10. Potted plants are the best! Last year we planted tomatoes and basil with a lot of success. We tried peppers in there too, but they were a bust. I hadn't thought about lavender...we had several bushes in our house that we had to leave behind, but I like the idea of putting them in pots!

  11. Shannon, thank you! What a beautiful thing to say =)

Elisa, that's awesome!! I highly recommend it. My secret is Osmocote, and lots of it.

GJT, I had some success with peppers planted in the ground last year, but decided to forgo them this year. I've never had any success with tomatoes because it just gets too hot here. 105+ degrees F is no good for tomato plants.

  12. I LOVE container gardens. they are fantastic and SO much easier. I have a rain gutter garden thats on my house but beyond that, everything is in a container and technically that one kind of is too! awesome post, great job!

  13. I used to plant from seed in the ground, but never had any luck growing vegetables to their fruition, so I bought young plants this year and skipped the seeds. I live in Florida, so container gardening can be very beneficial to keep plants from frying in the sun. Your flowers are beautiful!
